SauceBox Cosmetics Etude Eyeshadow Palette

SauceBox Cosmetics Etude Eyeshadow Palette

SauceBox Cosmetics Etude Eyeshadow Palette - $50.
Since I bought my IMATS tickets, the first booth I wanted to go to was SauceBox. I had my eye on the Etude palette ever since it released. Last year, the palette sold out very quickly so I was surprised to see that it never sold out during the weekend. At least, it wasn't sold out when I left IMATS on the last day.
This palette is very special to me since the founder of the company looked at me and recognized me as I was paying for the palette. It's the first time I've ever been recognized by a company in person without me saying anything (other than, "How much is this?") and it was just really, really nice. This palette will remind me of what happened during my stay.
Etude is an all matte eyeshadow palette. Matte neutral eyeshadow palettes have been becoming more popular recently, but it's still hard finding a really good one. Matte shadows in general are harder to perfect than shimmery eyeshadows.

All of the shadows are very smooth and very easy to work with. If you're looking for an all matte eyeshadow palette, I highly recommend this one.

I couldn't take good swatches, so here's a look I did using the palette!
I plan to make a video using this palette in the near future. I'm just not sure what look I want to do for the video yet. If you have any suggestions, feel free to leave them in the comments below!

Skinfood - Aloe Soothing Body Wash
A soothing body wash in a non-greasy gel formula that contains Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Water and Luffa Cylindrica Fruit Powder to gently cleanse and exfoliate skin.

Review
This product is great for spring and summer days but also for when you really need to wake up! The scent is so refreshing and soft. Yesterday the sun was gone again and I felt so lazy. After I applied this on my skin I woke up from my lazy trance and felt energenic again! Also my skin felt super duper soft after.  Softer than any other body washes I've used past year. I would honestly recommend this and buy the full size when Spring's here!

Skinfood - Broccolia Cleansing foam
Broccoli’s rich in Vitamin C and Betacarotene for healthy skin. Smooth bubbles to cleanse sensitive skin. Paraben, mineral oil, artificial coloring and 10 kinds of chemincals are null-additive.

Review
I'm also loving this! I've used it twice. First time was in the shower making the foam in my hands and then applying it on my face. It felt so soft and hugging to my skin. I always love Broccoli as ingredient in skincare product (never eat it though) My skin felt so clean and 0% of dry feeling after. Today I've used it again and this time with my Clarisonic. It didn't foam as much and it did felt more harsh on my skin because it is such a strong cleanser and the Clarisonic also did its work at the same time. So I think the foam is great for just making bubbles with your hands if you have sensitive skin. Also tracing my face with a cotton pad and some toner.. cotton pad was clean after! Recommend this and you can get it here :)

Combined Review
I was very sceptic when I was gonna use this. Because last time when I've tried shampoo and conditioner with argan oil, my hair got greasy and oily the next day. So I thought let's try it and see...Yesterday when i was talking with my mom again going to let my hair cut she suddenly said, a hair cut or not I think your hair dries very pretty today. Then i looked in the mirror and I had like 70% less frizzy hair, My hair felt light and still heavy (bouncy I think) Like my hair finally knew how it should behave! I was like omg!! Better be good when I wake up tomorrow....

New hair cut + perfect hair thanks to Skinfood!
So I woke up today and my hair still felt amazing and was super clean. Then I went to get my hair get cut. I've lost around 10 cm :D I didn't let my hair get washed and she only simply blow dried it a tiny bit after she was done, because it was very cold outside. This is the result. Perfect healthy, clean, epic hair!! I've found my new favorite Shampoo & conditioner

beautifying life

Sorry for being MIA for the past month!!! First of all I want to say HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone (even though we're already near the end of January -- oops!). I was actually on holidays in Hong Kong & Taiwan and stupid me forgot to prepare posts which is why my blog hasn't been updated. But now that I'm back, I'll try my best to upload weekly again :)  I hope you all had a blast during your holidays and spent time with your friends & families!

Last year, I made a blog post about my Huge Hong Kong Cosmetics Haul and a lot of you guys liked that post, so what's better than starting the blogging year off a 2015 edition!! I actually don't think I bought as much as last year but there's still a lot of products to go through in this post hehe. I also purchased some miscellaneous items from Hong Kong, so if you would like to see those then feel free to leave me a comment down below and I'll try my best to get that up soon!

Just a bit of background information, in Mong Kok (Hong Kong), there's a street called 'Sai Yeung Choi Street' & this particular street is really long. If you're a make up hoarder, this is the place to go. From one end of the street to the other there are two Etude House Stores, two Innisfree stores, two Laneige stores, two Sasa's, Colourmix, Skinfood, Holika Holika and heaps more makeup shops. So most of the stuff that I bought in this haul, was during my trip down this street. If you were wondering more about where to buy makeup and things in Hong Kong, leave me a comment below and I'll dedicate a separate post on that because I have previously received emails from people inquiring about the best places to shop at in Hong Kong!

Etude House ♥

As you can tell, this year, I was a bit obsessed with Etude House products! The stores in Hong Kong are super cutely decorated and because I just couldn't hold back, I ended up with $600 worth of products in a day! If you ever have the chance to go to Hong Kong or Taiwan, their Etude House stores are worth taking a look at! And the prices are really cheap with heaps of samples in every purchase. The things that I purchased included:

  1. Etude House Dear Girls Oil Control Pact -  I originally really wanted to try the Innisfree Oil control pact when I was in the Mong Kok store because so many people had been raving about it including Charmaine :P but because the line was really long that day at Innisfree and I only wanted to buy one thing, I couldn't be bothered to wait. So instead, I went to Etude House and this looked pretty similar but in a pact form. So far, I'm quite liking this powder because it's controlling my oil pretty well in this extremely hot Sydney weather! I'm still looking forward to try the Innisfree powder though hehe!
  2. Etude House Proof 10 Eye Primer - My eyelids tend to be quite oily and I haven't really been able to find a good eyelid primer that can keep my eyeshadows in place all day. I watched Cosjane's video on youtube and she recommended this so I decided to try it out. Sadly, it doesn't really work for me, so if you have tried any good eyelid primers please leave your recommendations below because I wear eyeshadows a lot and they never last until the end of the day :(
  3. Etude House Oh M'eye Liner -  I've previously purchased this before in last year's Hong Kong haul and because I loved it so much, i decided to buy another two! If you're looking for an affordable and good quality eyeliner, this one is the way to go!
  4. Etude House Bling Bling Eye Stick -  This one was a really spontaneous purchase. I was originally paying at the counter but because I needed another $60HKD to get a sample set, i added this to my basket too. I have yet to try this and I'm pretty excited!
  5. Etude House Lash Perm Mascara -  After trying the Fairy Drops mascara, I never thought I would need to try any other mascaras because it was that good! But because Hong Kong Sasa's don't stock it anymore, I had to try something else. My sister owns this mascara and said that it was pretty good, so I picked one up myself.
  6. Etude House Dr Mascara Fixer - I heard really good things about this product from Saaamage off YouTube and omg when I tried this, I couldn't stop using this. It makes my lashes look so much more voluminous and holds the curls for so long! I will probably do a full review on this soon.
  7. Etude House Fresh Cherry Tints -  I've been obsessed with lip products lately and these were must haves. Really cheap and I really wished they had a larger shade selection.
  8. Etude House Play Nail Polishes -  Buying nail polishes in Australia can be quite expensive sometimes especially for brands like Essie & O.P.I -- they can cost up to $20. These Etude House nail polishes however have been known for their good quality, super affordable price and huge range of colours. I picked up 5 different shades and I'm loving them so far!

Etude House Hong Kong is really generous with their samples. The more things that you purchase, the more samples you get. Also, if you get their loyalty card, you can collect points whenever you purchase from Etude House and once you get to a certain amount of points, you can exchange this for products (for example, using the points I accumulated in early 2014 and 2015, I was able to get the Etude House hand cream below for free). So as you can see for samples, I got the Etude House Super Collagen Set which comes with an essence, sunscreen and cleansing foam. I also got a free mask and BB cream sample set

 Missha, Colourmix, Benefit + More

Other than Etude House there were also many other make up stores that were worth visiting.

  1. Missha Coating Tint - If you didn't know, for some unknown reason, all of Hong Kong Missha stores suddenly closed down in early 2015. But before this happened, they were having 35% off sales, so I went in and bought this lip tint because I really liked the coral coloured one!
  2. Benefit Gimme Brow - Benefit is actually a pretty popular brand in Hong Kong and as you all know their brow mascara is one of my HG products. I needed to stock up on this so I picked it up from a local counter. Surprisingly it was actually more expensive than buying it from Sydney ($220HKD//$36AUD -- usually $32AUD in Myer Stores), so i'll remember for next time.
  3. Jojo Makeup Silky Eyeshadow - I bought this eyeshadow last year in Hong Kong too, I really love the colours and the quality is quite good for the price you pay. The review of this will actually be up in a few weeks time.
  4. Lioele Pop Pinky Tint - This is seriously one of my all time favourite lip tint. It is literally the same thing as Benefit Cosmetics Posie Tint but for a fraction of the price! ($90HKD//$15 AUD)
  5. Maybelline Baby Skin Primer - I actually forgot to pack my primer so I bought this from my local Watson's store.
SaSa

  1. Fairy Drops Cat Liner - Surprisingly this year there weren't many things that I wanted to buy from Sasa. The only reason why I would approach SaSa stores everywhere I went was because I was desperately trying to find the Fairy Drops Mascara that I really really LOVE. Sadly I really couldn't find it even after a month of looking for it but instead I discovered their new eyeliner which was available last year. I picked it up straight away and seriously, Fairy drops products never fail! I've been sticking to my Missha & Etude House eyeliner for the whole of 2014 but ever since I bought this, I didn't want to go back. I bought an extra one for my friend as well!
  2. Bonavoce eyeliner - This eyeliner was on sale at Sasa for like half price so my sister bought it. When she tried it, she said it was really good so I went back and bought one for my self ahaha.
  3.  Koji 24h Long Lasting eyeliner - If you couldn't tell by now, i am seriously an eyeliner hoarder haha! I love eyeliners with a passion and this one was recommended by my sister again so I bought this one too! This one is different to the previous two because the pen is much more fine and is great for precision and thin winged liner.
  4. Heavy Rotation Mascara - I heard this was a pretty good mascara in the beauty blogging community so I gave this a try. Although I have to say, I'm not a big fan of this. It's too heavy and makes my lashes droop very quickly!

Lucky last, my favourite purchase of the trip! This is the Benefit 3 Scoops O'Sexy Holiday Limited Edition Lip Set. I became obsessed with Benefit's Posie Tint during November, so I really wanted to try their other tints too. This set was perfect because I could get my hands on all 3 tints and all 3 balms (Full size too!). Posie tint is obviously my favourite but surprisingly I really like lolli tint too. It gives more of a mature feel to your make up look whilst Posie tint is more fun! I don't really have an opinion on the Benetint though because I haven't tried it out yet!

That concludes my Hong Kong Cosmetics Haul of 2015! Sorry this was such a LONG post - but I tried to make it as short as possible already >.<! Hope you all enjoyed reading this and tell me which product you loved the best out of this haul down below in the comments section! Again, sorry for being away for so long from my blog and I'll be back on track from now on (hopefully hehe!). Love you all! If you want to see a post on miscellaneous things I bought in Hong Kong or a post on where to buy cosmetics in Hong Kong, remember to leave me a comment and I'll get to it as quickly as possible :) Until next time, have a safe week and happy (belated) 2015!!! *sends kisses*

Kaboom Cosmetics

Welcome to 2015! KaBOOM! Cosmetics is back in business and I’m feeling very well rested after my little Christmas break and looking forward to lots of big changes (keep your eyes peeled for updates very soon) and bringing lots of fresh and fun content to the blog. I thought I would start off the 2015 blog posts with a roundup of my makeup picks of 2014 (I have linked through to a review or video featuring the products where relevant).

1. Rimmel Stay Matte Primer
When I lived in England, I discovered the Rimmel Fix & Perfect Primer which I absolutely LOVED but sadly, it isn’t available in Australia. There is a Rimmel primer called Fix & Perfect but it isn’t the same. I was overjoyed to find Stay Matte because it reminds me so much of the old Fix & Perfect that I loved. It’s a white, skin-perfecting primer that feels very creamy and really helps reduce the appearance of pores, smooth the skin, prolong makeup wear and it gives a great matte finish. It’s been a godsend for me in 2014 and is easily my most used primer.
2. NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in Fiji
This foundation is an absolute dream come true! For me, it’s perfection in a bottle giving medium coverage and a little glow without leaving my already oily skin looking greasy. I love how lightweight it feels and just how good it looks on the skin. The only (very minor) downside is the bottle/pump issue which you can read more about in my NARS post.
3. bareMinerals Stroke of Light Concealer in Luminous 2
On my hunt for a new concealer, I was tossing up between this and the NARS Creamy Concealer but what sold this one was two things. First, I received a sample with purchase from Mecca and I LOVED it and secondly, when I visited Mecca, the lovely Alex from bareMinerals was in store and she was so enthusiastic and looked totally flawless so into my basket it went! I definitely don’t regret it, it feel fabulously lightweight while still masking my awful under eye bags (even when I’m not tired they still look terrible) and just generally making me look awake and not undead.
4. NARS Compact Powder Foundation in Fiji
NARS has been my 2014 Brand of the Year I think! I’ve been discovering a few delightful new goodies from them as well as revelling in some old favourites including this powder foundation. This is actually the first high end makeup product I ever bought and I haven’t looked back since. Whether I’m using it to set my foundation or using it alone over my favourite primer, it’s always a winner for me.
5. Daniel Sandler Watercolour Liquid Blush in Cherub
I have been very lucky to meet some amazing blogger babes in 2014 including Kate from TheMinted Beauty who was kind enough to gift me with this little blush. It’s completely unlike any blush I’ve ever tried and I adore the natural flush it gives me. A little goes a very long way and I’ve found myself reaching for this more than any other blush in my collection over the last few months.
6. Crown Brushes C452 Infinity Flat Bronzer Brush
2014 was the year I ventured to Sydney for IMATS! While I found IMATS pretty underwhelming (see my video here), I did meet some lovely girls including Kirsty from Lipstick Addict and Ashleigh from Beauty for Thought and made a few excellent purchases including this brush. It’s such a soft, dense brush and it gives a flawless finish, I use it for both foundation and blush and I can’t even remember what I used before this came along!
7. Hourglass Ambient Powder/Blush Wardrobes
Technically, I’m probably cheating by including 2 palettes under one umbrella but both of these are too gorgeous not to include. I bought the powder when it first came out (and before Mecca dropped their prices, grrr!) and recently purchased the blush palette too, it looked to pretty to resist! Both palettes contain 3 products, for the powder wardrobe this includes Dim Light, Incandescent Light and Radiant Light and for the blush wardrobe the products are Luminous Flush, Incandescent Electra and Mood Exposure. I get such good use out of every single one of these, I know a lot of people were disappointed or didn’t like the powder palette in particular but it really just works for me.
Hourglass Blush Wardrobe swatches (bottom-top): Luminous Flush, Incandescent Electra & Mood Exposure

8. MAC Lipstick in Hug Me
I finally found the perfect “my lips but better shade”! I never thought I would be a nude lipsticks kind gal but something shifted for me this year and I found myself reaching for nudes over bright more and more frequently. Hug Me is a flesh-toned nude pink in a Lustre finish meaning that it’s very moisturising and very wearable. I can’t get enough of this lipstick!
Honourable mention: I couldn’t talk about nude lipsticks without mentioning Gerard Cosmetics 1995 which I talked about here. I was lucky enough to purchase this from the CEO of Gerard Cosmetics herself and I think this may have been the shade that sparked my sudden love of nudes. It only gets an honourable mention as I don’t find it quite as easy to wear as the Hug Me and the packaging isn’t as sturdy either.
9. Rimmel Provocalips 16HR Kissproof Lip Colour*
Again, probably cheating by throwing in an entire lipstick range but meh! I originally wasn’t all that impressed with these but I very quickly changed my tune after realising that a) they DO. NOT. BUDGE and b) they don’t get all over my Invisalign. While I don’t love all of the colours in the range, Make Your Move and Play With Fire would have to be my two favourites. Gotta love a lip colour that stays put all day long!
10. Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Pot Liner in Blackest Black
This is my HG of eyeliners, full stop! It’s easy to work with, doesn’t dry out and best of all, doesn’t budge once it’s on your eyelids. While I don’t actually own any high end eyeliners (and I call myself a beauty blogger!) I have heard a lot of people who say that this version is comparable, if not better than the Bobbi Brown one and for a fraction of the price too.
11. Rimmel Wonder’Full Mascara with Argan Oil
Can you tell what my favourite drugstore brand is? You guessed it, Rimmel! I am quite lucky in that I have quite long, thick lashes naturally and all they need is a little oomph. I usually curl them then add a coat or two of my favourite mascara but my pet hate is clumpy mascaras. This mascara has quite a runny formula but it is absolutely perfect for me and I find that it’s a great everyday mascara. It definitely lengthens and adds a wee bit of volume AND it has the added benefit of Argan Oil to promote growth and make your lashes look super thick and shiny too.
12. Maybelline Brow Drama in Dark Brown
This product very recently entered my life thanks to a recommendation from Kelsey from Kelsey Sarah. Having quite thick, almost black brows, I always struggle finding brow products that aren’t too warm/red toned and finding products that just fill in the gaps a little as opposed to getting instant drag queen eyebrows. While this product won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, it is just perfect for me and I now use it every day. It has quite a fat ball applicator which a lot of people don’t like but it actually fits my fat fuzzy brows really well and I like the filled but not over-filled effect that I get.
13. Too Faced Chocolate Bar Eyeshadow Palette
I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that this is not only my favourite eyeshadow palette but also my favourite product of 2014, I think I might actually be in love with an eyeshadow palette. My two favourite things are chocolate and makeup so I pretty much can’t get enough of this. From the chocolate bar packaging to the sweet cocoa scent to the amazingly pigmented shades, this palette is my dream come true. The only very tiny problem I have with it is that the shade names aren’t printed on the packaging but honestly, it’s such a fabulous palette that I can deal with such a minor problem!
14. Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Polish
As someone who spends a LOT of time painting their nails and who detests having even the tiniest chip, this nail polish is a god send. Not only do you not have to muck around with UV lamps and acetone but this polish lasts for a week with only the tiniest bit of wear, seriously, it’s amazing! You use any one of the 18 shades with the Miracle Gel Top Coat and you instantly have a week of amazing polish literally at your fingertips. The best part is that you can remove this polish with normal nail polish remover too, like I said AH-MAY-ZING!
Swatches L-R: Daniel Sandler Watercolour Blush in Cherub, bareMinerals Stroke of Light Concealer, Hug Me by MAC & Maybelline Brow Drama
And there you have it! Apologies for the epically long post but these products all deserved a mention and hopefully you enjoyed my Top 14 of 2014. What were your top products for last year?

Hong Kong 2015 Cosmetics Haul ♥
